2 projects utilizing core serach functions on two new platforms - smart watch & intelligent robot
DuWear is a project that focuses on offering a Baidu search experience for smartwatch users. The main challenge is to provide sufficient information on the small screens.
Speak to the watch by saying “Xiaodu, xiaodu”
Profile image, name and 1 line of basic information.
Search for music and play them automatically.
Location, time, temperature, wind, air quaility, etc.
Send a heart-beat emoji, a reminder of drinking water, or a bit walking.
Offer all types of results such as weather, basic knowledge, transportation, or people.
To adpat to multiple types of Android devices, the information grid system was introducted to design & development.
DuRobot is intended to build up a personal robot that is not only fictional and helpful but also interactive and emotional. The robots will act as personal assistants to help people search for information, video chatting, play music, and storytelling. Besides, the robot works like a human to chat with people. We leverage multiple technologies including natural language processing (NLP); speech, machine learning, and digital media computing to create an experience that people can talk with this robot-like a real person.
The robot can be controlled via a phone application
Accounts management and settings
Via phone App, user can control the robot to conduct several related actions.
Those two projects are early explorations of the two platforms in Baidu. We did several successful releases in 2015. Later we build up Wear Department to focus on Baidu Search for the smartwatch. The DuRobot project later becomes the current popular DuOS system in China.
